Kids Saving Lives

‘Teaching young people lifesaving skills.’

Did you know….
  • that sudden cardiac arrest affects about 700 000 people each year in Europe?
  • the survival rate for Cardiac arrest occurring outside of hospital is 2.5-5% in the UK?
  • early bystander CPR can double or treble the survival rate from cardiac arrest?
  • a combination of early assessment, immediate CPR, early defibrillation and access to advanced care are vital steps in successful resuscitation?
  • in order for these steps to be achieved, and the survival rate to increase, rescuers need to know how to assess a casualty, raise the alarm, and perform CPR?

*All statistics from the European Resuscitation Guidelines for Resuscitation 2005

So how does Kids Saving Lives relate to these statistics…?

Kids Saving Lives is a new initiative teaching these skills to young people, encouraging young people to take an interest in lifesaving techniques.

Expert trainers will attend schools, teaching students these skills in a familiar learning environment. Schools will receive a teacher’s information pack, to support further learning and revision of the study skills session, a workbook for each student involved in the session, and a certificate of attendance for each student.

The more people who learn lifesaving skills, the more lives will be saved.
